Upgrade the stress-management skills of your entire team, department, or even university!
Say goodbye to boring presentations. I come with practical tools, active exercises, and some great fun.
I will send everyone home with newfound positive energy, confidence, and a smile on their faces :-). My workshops focus on maintaining good mental health, maintaining good communication and overall well-being for your employees. Make them want to stay!

“I learned so much about myself! Now I understand why some things trigger me and make me feel bad, that alone is already so helpful. It puts everything into a realistic perspective.”
PhD student
“I am trying to let go of the things I cannot control, and put my time and energy into the things I do have control over. This was very insightful!”
PhD student
The Healthy Science Method
To practice science in a healthy way, my workshops always combine these three pillars. Depending on the exact workshop and the audience, the focus will shift a bit towards which pillar is most important.
COMMUNICATION
Manage expectations and responsibilities, and communicate these in tactful and effective ways. From supervisor to student, and from student to supervisor.
Also, learn how to communicate in more healthy ways towards yourself (and your inner critic).
STRESS-MANAGEMENT
Acquire skills to deal with all the pressure, competition, and expectations in the ambitious academic environment.
Create a healthy work-life balance and focus your time and energy on those things you can actually control.
PRODUCTIVITY
Work smarter, not harder.
Discover what works best for you and start working together with your brain (which is your biggest asset) instead of working against it.
So you can continue practicing science in a sustainable and effective manner.

(offline or online, 2 hour duration)

WORKSHOP 1
Work-life balance
As a PhD student or researcher in general, you have to work under a lot of pressure, fulfill high expectations, move around in a demanding work environment, all while maintaining a social (and family)life! You simply don’t have the time and/or energy to do it all, even though you work really hard😪.
In this workshop you get to know yourself on a deeper level, and get practical tools to create your ideal work-life balance. So you don’t feel like you’re falling short anymore, and take back control of how you spend your time.
WORKSHOP 2
Communication Dynamics in Academia
A critical mind can be found everywhere in academia. Not only in the academic culture, also within yourself. In this workshop we are going to explore the communication and power dynamics that exist and how you can manage your stress-level through all the publication pressure, heavy workload, high expectations and demands.
You’ll discover why you don’t have to take criticism personally, how to communicate more effectively without conflict (while saying ‘no’ and setting boundaries), and how to feel more confident as a (young) researcher.

WORKSHOP 3
Become your most productive self
This workshop focuses on working smarter instead of harder. Therefore I am going to teach you how to work together with your brain, so you can optimally make use of your biggest asset and work efficiently.
One of the biggest challenges is to focus and concentrate, and keep up with the heavy workload in academia.
Because science is a cognitive environment, your brain is working hard every day, all day. From a neuropsychology perspective, I’ll show you ways to make use of your brain in the most optimal way.
Some insights that previous attendants took home with them:
“I try to criticize myself less, and blame my experiment ;-).”
“I don’t have to feel guilty anymore about a non-productive day, that releases a lot of pressure.”
“Because everyone is going through the same thing and has the same insecurities, everyone is an imposter and therefore no one is ;-).”
“Because of certain things I say and how I say them, this triggers an ‘opposed’ reaction in my supervisor as well, which gets us stuck into a vicious communication cycle.”
“Being true to ourselves is more important than our job, and I start to believe that I am good enough.”
“I am going to start talking kindly to myself, because I am the longest relationship I will ever have.”
“I have much more control than I thought, especially in the communication with my supervisor.”
“It is okay to doubt whether I am going to continue with my PhD or not, and I feel less alone in having these doubts.”
